"Desire" - Karel Mark Chichon, the artistic director of "Klassik unter Sternen", has based this year's program around this concept. He has chosen works related to freedom, health, community and striving for a better world. Building on this, Elīna Garanča, Jonathan Tetelman and Marina Monzó will sing popular compositions by Gaetano Donizetti, Giuseppe Verdi, Giacomo Puccini, Amilcare Ponchielli, Umberto Giordano, Pietro Mascagni and others. Famous operetta hits and those from Spanish zarzuelas will also put a smile on the faces of the audience. This year, the audience will once again experience a world premiere. As every year, Elīna Garanča will bring something she has not yet had in her repertoire to the stage exclusively in Göttweig and Kitzbühel for the first time. This time it will be a selection from "Luisa Fernanda" by Federico Moreno Torroba. The mezzo-soprano has never sung the title role of the play, which guarantees fiery Spanish local color and sparkling emotions in a tangled love story on the brink of the Spanish Revolution. It has also become a popular tradition that Elīna Garanča's concerts end with a medley. For this year, South American melodies have been chosen. This will include "Cielito Lindo," the popular Mexican folk song that almost enjoys the status of a second national anthem, and "Brazil," which also describes the dream of happiness and sunshine. For the first time, before the concert a prelude will take place at Göttweig Abbey where the best-ranked participants of the young talent initiative "Future Voices" will perform.
